Adults

Adult classes

Evening classes for adults who have never danced, adults who danced once and a monthly ceili night.

Adults start in the same intro workshop as everyone else, then join the Monday evening beginner class or the Thursday open level. Ceili night is a Friday evening once a month, with group dances called by the teacher. No partner is needed.

A class

What an adult class is like

Friendly, unhurried and set to music.

  1. 01

    Step 1: Warm-up

A gentle walk around the hall, then marching on the spot.

  2. 02

    Step 2: Posture

Stand tall, arms down, and move from the hips down.

  3. 03

    Step 3: A step at a time

New steps are built up slowly and repeated.

  4. 04

    Step 4: Across the floor

A few dancers at a time cross the hall while the others watch.

  5. 05

    Step 5: A dance

We finish with a whole dance to music, and tea if it is cold.
