Before you book
Questions families ask
How do I start?
Book a placement visit. It begins with a Saturday intro workshop, and then you dance in the class that seems to fit.
Why an intro workshop instead of a trial class?
Irish dance is easier to learn in order. The workshop teaches a first reel and shows how a class runs, so the placement visit goes to the right level.
Which class is right for my child?
Age and level decide it. The teacher watches at the placement visit and tells you which class and why.
What should we wear?
Leggings or shorts, a fitted top, clean socks and hair tied back. Soft shoes come once a dancer has a level, and hard shoes later still.
Do I need to stay?
Younger dancers are welcome to have a parent in the lobby. Older dancers may be dropped off if you have told us in writing.
May I watch?
Yes, on the last class of each month, from the bench along the wall. Other days, families wait in the lobby.
What is a level, and how does a dancer move up?
A level is a group of steps and dances. The teacher moves a dancer up after watching them dance a whole step to music.
What is a feis?
A feis is a day of Irish dance events, held in halls around New England. Going is up to the dancer, and no one needs to go to dance with us.
What are the extras?
Shoes, a class top, the spring showcase and, for dancers who choose it, feis entries and a solo dress. How tuition works lists them all.
What if we miss a class?
A missed class can be made up in another class of the same level in the same session. Send a message and we will find a time.
Still have a question?
Call or write and we will answer within a day.
