Ages 5 to 16
Weekly classes for children and teens, grouped by age and level, from first steps to novice.
Dancers begin in soft shoes and learn reels, light jigs and slip jigs. Hard shoes are added when the teacher says it is time, in the advanced beginner class. Classes meet once a week, and some dancers take a second class when they are ready.
One class a week to start
Classes of up to 12 dancers
Soft shoes first, hard shoes later

A class
The same order every week, so dancers know what comes next.
Walking, marching and light jumps, with the music on.
Standing tall with arms down, practiced on the spot.
A new step, taught slowly and added to the last one.
Dancers cross the hall a few at a time with the teacher watching.
Everything put together to music, then a quiet cool-down.
Good to know
Leggings or shorts, a fitted top, clean socks and hair tied back. Soft shoes once a level is set. Hard shoes only when the teacher says.
Classes of up to 12 dancers, 45 minutes to an hour and a quarter depending on the level.
Beginner, advanced beginner and novice are the levels here. Your teacher watches and tells you when it is time to move up.
